Adam Fields (work stuff) RSS

This is my blog about work stuff.

See this post for discussion of what this blog is about and what I do.

I am often available for consulting work, and always happy to discuss it even if I'm currently very busy. Email me or find me on twitter @fields if you need something.

Some iPad apps I like

For connecting to my home Mac, I use Desktop Connect outside the house, because it’s got ssh proxy support. iTap VNC is a nicer client, and I use that while I’m in the house. iSSH is a decent ssh client, and is supposed to have VNC support but I’ve never been able to get it working.

Netflix - stream videos and manage your queue

AirVideo - install a server on your Mac and stream video over wifi to your ipad.

TouchPad - remote control for your macs, works via screen sharing so you don’t have to install extra software.

Scrabble (and free tile board app for iPhone)

Dropbox - access your dropbox account

ReaddleDocs - PDF and doc reader.

AirSharing - General file sharing and document printing support. Has some document reading capability but ReaddleDocs is nicer.

Amazon, Ebay - shopping

SkyGrid - top news

Solitaire City - the nicest solitaire implementation I’ve found, if that’s your thing

Twitteriffic - Twitter

Instapaper - offline reading

Game Table and Board Box are both nice general board game implementations with some minor differences. They are boards only - no AI.

Soulver - scratch sheet calculator, I also like the Mac and iphone versions

1Password Pro - syncs with your 1Password for Mac

Weather HD is a nice weather app, though the Accuweather and Weather Channel ones have more features

iSignsHD is fun for displaying full screen symbols
